James Burnes is a Senior Innovation Strategist and a managing partner of Project Brilliant, an idea and innovation consultancy he established in 2009 to lead the development of innovative cultures and methodologies for corporate clients. Always looking at how intellectual property can be leveraged for his corporate clients, he is founder and CEO of PatentStatus, a patent law software company that provide virtual marking software to corporations.
For more than 10 years, James has been a leader in Internet consulting, web strategy and new business ventures. He founded Project Brilliant as an idea factory, business consultancy, creative agency and business incubator to launch and develop new digital business ventures. A serial entrepreneur, he founded and led mobile app development and strategy firm Mobiltopia where they designed and build apps and mobile sites for iPhone and Android Smartphones.
His leadership and vision help organizations embrace new and emerging technologies like social media, mobile platforms, Agile methodology and other emerging technologies and practices to transform their organization to succeed in our highly connected, 24/7 economy. His expertise in business development, sales, innovation, product ideation, and revenue-centric thinking makes him a regular resource to corporate executives around the country to conduct business online.
James is a board member of the advisory board of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s Small Business Development Centers and Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Central Indiana Affiliate. He is a contributing editor to The Social Media Bible (J.W. Wiley Publishing, May 2009).
Prior to his current endeavors, James led high profile initiatives for publicly traded broadcast and publishing groups directing Internet strategy, sales, marketing, product development and social media initiatives including Gannett and LIN Television.
