Is social media a skill set or a career path?

The Social Media Breakfast of Bellingham, WA hosted James Burnes as their guest speaker at their March, 2010 event. The event, held at Glow Nightclub,  had an attendance of about 60 professionals.

James addressed the audience on the whether or not social media is a skill set that defines a career or if is in fact a career path itself? The presentation, about 40 minutes in length, addressed several key issues including:

  • How does social media play a role in career development
  • How do employees and companies view social media’s role in their business
  • How does your personal brand get defined by social media
  • How can you impact and take control of your career with social media.

A great write-up on the event appeared on the SMB-Bellingham blog.
